Blake Shelton Makes Things Weird on The Voice With Key Adviser Rihanna

If you thought The Voice coaches got pretty goofy between performances and during their team rehearsals, at least according to the snippets we see on screen each week, that’s nothing compared to the ridiculousness that gets cut out of the episode.

Like Blake Shelton bringing up the iconic Seinfeld plot about the “low-talker” Jerry dates in the pivotal episode “The Puffy Shirt” to a 17-year-old girl who has probably not ever seen one episode of Seinfeld, considering she was born in 1997 (a.k.a. one year before the show ended). Or Gwen Stefani revealing that there are secret heaters hidden inside the arm rests of each judge’s spinny red chair.

E! News has an exclusive look at some outtakes from the Knockout rounds, including the scenes above. In addition to Blake’s non sequitur, the video above features season nine’s key adviser, Rihanna, and guess what? Things get weird. Really weird. Yes, Blake is responsible for most of the weirdness, though that should come as no surprise.

When Rihanna is giving Blake’s now-eliminated contestant Blind Joe some advice about his stage presence, Blake turns it into a strange aside about soup after mishearing a word of their conversation.

The best part, though, comes at the end, when Pharrell Williams says something that makes fellow coach Adam Levine laugh uncontrollably. (You will giggle too. It’s infectious.)

The Voice airs Mondays at 8 p.m. and Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC. The 20 winners of the Knockout round will advance to the Live Playoffs, when the voting turns over to the viewers.
